Name: Melanie Waite
Job Title: Massage Therapist
Birthday: June 6
Tell us about your Family:
I am married to Paul, who was born and raised in America but spent 2 years living in England: it was during that time, I am sure, he fell in love with all things English … lucky for me!!!! Paul has 4 kids from his first marriage – they’re adults and thankfully, like me (phew!).
My Mum and siblings (3 brothers and one sister) and their families, live in England … great excuse for me to go back “occasionally”!!!
How long have you been at Seasons? Since you started your career?
I started working at Seasons when it moved to this location – 5 ½ years ago.
I qualified as a massage therapist in 2003, so it’s been 10 years now since I’ve been working in this field.
When did you first know that this was what you wanted to do?
Approximately 12 years ago, I had the thought that I would like to learn how to give a “proper” massage – my brothers and a few of my friends were really into soccer and other sports. They were experiencing various aches pains and I thought it would be great to be able to give them sports massages on a regular basis, to assist them with their sporting performance. I looked into the various courses that were available and found one that piqued my interest: I enrolled and really enjoyed my training and met some great people on the course.
What Inspires You?
Integrity, kindness, fearlessness and loyalty
What is your favourite thing about what you do?
I love it when people come in with a certain degree of discomfort or pain, have a treatment and then leave feeling much better. That never fails to give me a kick.
Favourite Aveda Products?
To choose just one is a bit tricky as there are a few which I really love. Probably my absolute favourite is the hand relief (it’s by far the most amazing hand cream I have ever come across). I also love the control force hair spray, the beautifying oil, confixor and the shampure shampoo and conditioner.
Why do you love Aveda? Seasons?
I love the “almost 100% natural” component of Aveda and the way all their products smell so incredible.
Seasons – what’s not to love about Seasons? The people I work with are wonderful and this attracts fantastic guests. The physical environment is fabulous too.
Have any professional goals or dreams for yourself?
I’d love to be a multi-millionaire – that’s definitely one of my dreams! – and to continue providing a massage service which addresses the needs of my guests to the best of my ability.
Where do you see the industry in 5 years? Where do you see yourself?
I think the service industry and particularly holistic health (of which I put massage in) will continue to grow as people become more interested in addressing the root cause of whatever issue it is that they have. I see myself remaining in the industry of “serving people” and continually striving to problem solve whatever scenario presents itself.
Don’t believe my thoughts.
